60 day countdown
Preparing for an overseas tour is an exciting yet daunting process. At this stage, the performances have been organised, the repertoire has been set and the choir is rehearsing all the music to make sure it is all shipshape by 25 June.
The program will include music by Australian composers Dan Walker, Ben van Tienen, Stephen Leek, Paul Jarman, Paul and Julie Bevan and Gordon Hamilton. We'll also take some Bartok, Vivaldi, Rutter, Sting, Schwartz and Cold Chisel!
The performance venues include St John the Divine Church in New York, the Amish Experience, Gettysburg, Arlington Cemetery Washington D.C., Disneyland Anaheim and the World Choir Games in Cincinnati.
Hunter Singers accompanist Erin Sweetman is getting her fingers in shape for the demanding program, Julie Bevan is honing her accordion, Paul Bevan is constructing the compere notes, conductor Kim Sutherland is learning all the fine details in the repertoire and the singers are learning the music!
We all have exciting times and hard work ahead in the lead up to the Farewell Concert at Adamstown Uniting Church on Sunday 27 May at 2pm.
